#62 TEAM MASSA-R takes pole position with an overwhelming time!
In the 3-hour race, #75 RT Moto Rock emerged victorious after dominating the battle for the top in the rain!!
The 24th "Mote tai (Mote endurance)". On August 21 (Sat), the official qualifying started at 8 AM. In the afternoon, a 3-hour endurance race was held. The official qualifying was a time attack in dry conditions, but the 3-hour final turned into a race troubled by rain.
The official qualifying this year will also determine the grid based on the combined times of the 1st Rider and the 2nd Rider. In the session for Group A's 1st Rider, which started at 8:00, Mitani Zen from #62 TEAM MASSA-R was the first to enter the course and quickly pulled away from the following riders, increasing his time. In his final attack, he marked a time of 2 minutes 12.287 seconds, achieving an overwhelming time that was more than 3 seconds ahead of Jun Funabashi from #67 Riding Sports Fire A, who was in 2nd place. In the session for Group A's 2nd Rider, Gaku Fujii from #62 TEAM MASSA-R secured the top time with 2 minutes 13.128 seconds, earning an unquestionable pole position.
"Mitsuya said, 'Mitsui has a natural speed, so I taught him how to set a time in the Mote tai qualifying, and he performed even better than expected. Since he set a good time, I was able to secure pole position with some margin. This is also thanks to the team for putting the machine together well.' Then, Fujii said, 'I am relieved because I set a good time by following Fujii's advice. The condition of the machine is good, and I want to perform well in the final and do my best for the team,' marking the team's best with Mitsuya."
"Until the qualifiers, it's been going too well. As a team, this is our first time running the Honda CBR250RR in the Mote tai, so there are still many unknowns, but the Rider has done a great job. In the finals, we want to aim for victory in a fun way, just like in the Mote tai, with all four of us," said Director Motegi.
#62 TEAM MASSA-R recorded a combined time of 4 minutes 25.415 seconds. The second place, #88 Besra with Seido Joshi yss, had a time of 4 minutes 30.492 seconds, making it an overwhelming difference of 5.077 seconds. In third place was #86 <BEAR>M Garage + i-factory with a time of 4 minutes 33.282 seconds, followed by #41 TSC & DF Noriz with 4 minutes 33.435 seconds in fourth, and #33 First Star with D;REX in fifth with 4 minutes 33.734 seconds. However, #33 First Star with D;REX started from the 73rd grid position as it was not eligible for awards.
The 3-hour final race held on Saturday afternoon was designed to be more accessible and enjoyable for participants, allowing entries for the 3-hour final only. This time, 21 teams entered the race, along with teams that unfortunately did not qualify for the 7-hour final, competing for the title.
The one that showed a good start was the pole position starter, #75 RT Moto Rock. Following them were #56 TEAM LANG with MRSK in the second grid and #76 Team Garinko II in the third grid as they approached the second corner. In the opening lap, #75 RT Moto Rock maintained the lead, but in second place, #23 PRT TOPS with YSS SNIPER surged from the 22nd grid to take second place, aiming for a comeback in the 7-hour race. In the early stages, #75 RT Moto Rock led with a slight gap, while #23 PRT TOPS with YSS SNIPER, #56 TEAM LANG with MRSK, and #29 RS Dita and TEAM LANG battled for second place. However, as light rain began to fall, red cross flags were waved from each post. Soon after, the rain intensified, and the track quickly became wet, prompting many teams to pit in for rain tires.
In such a situation, there were quite a few teams that continued to run on dry tires. Just as they were about to reach the halfway point, the team in the lead, #56 TEAM LANG with MRSK, finally entered for their first refueling. #56 TEAM LANG with MRSK returned to the course while maintaining their position, and after an hour and a half, #56 TEAM LANG with MRSK was in the lead with 32 laps completed. #76 Team Garinko II, #23 PRT TOPS with YSS SNIPER, and #75 RT Moto Rock followed on the same lap.
After that, the rain continued to fall and stop, and the race entered its final stages. When #75 RT Moto Rock entered the pit for the second time, #23 PRT TOPS with YSS SNIPER rose to the top. From this point on, it became a head-to-head battle between #23 PRT TOPS with YSS SNIPER and #75 RT Moto Rock, engaging in close combat with overtakes in the rain conditions. Although #23 PRT TOPS with YSS SNIPER tried several times, they chose to ease off the throttle to secure their entry into the 7-hour final. #75 RT Moto Rock, which was the first to challenge Mote tai (Mote endurance) among the members who participated in the mini bike endurance race, completed 63 laps and brilliantly won the 3-hour final.
"Everyone except me took the TRMC-S license for the first time and participated in a 250 race for the first time. It was tough due to the rain, but we all enjoyed it and were able to win, so that was great," said Takahiro Iwamoto.
The #23 PRT TOPS with YSS SNIPER secured 2nd place and earned a ticket to the 7-hour final. #56 TEAM LANG with MRSK came in 3rd place.
