This year marks the 15th edition of the "world's largest grass race" "Mote tai". The official qualifying round will be held on August 25 (Sat) at the Twin Ring Motegi road course. This year, a total of 103 teams will participate, and a heated time attack was conducted aiming for advancement to the 7-hour endurance final on the following day, the 26th. The qualifying round divided the participating teams into two groups, A and B, and the rankings were determined by the combined time of the best times of the first rider and the second rider.
The session begins with the first rider from Group A, and first, #95 Power Factory Roadway's Ushiba takes the top of the leaderboard with a one-lap attack. The session progresses with him maintaining the top time. Furthermore, on the 8th lap, just before the session ends, he marks a course record for the NEO-ST Ninja class with a time of 2 minutes 23.762 seconds, starting off on a good note. The following first rider from Group B, Suzuki from #812 Takatsuki Garage Racing, who won last year's 'Open Mote tai', shows his prowess with a top time of 2 minutes 16.895 seconds.
Group A saw the #95 Power Factory Roadway lead the qualifying throughout, even with the second rider. Kotani produced a record time of 2 minutes 22.738 seconds, surpassing even his teammates, as they awaited the overall qualifying results. However, in the final session of qualifying, the second rider from Group B, Fujii from #812 Takatsuki Garage Racing, took the lead and continued to run at the front. He set a new course record for the WS class with a time of 2 minutes 15.959 seconds on the fifth lap, securing the top spot in the overall qualifying.
Furthermore, in this B Group second rider session, the top four Ninja250R participating in the WT class achieved hot riding that updated the Course Records. Although Kanayama from #1 Bulldozer Tagos & Haruman set the top time of 2 minutes 18 seconds 948, #92 GMD Motostream Mercury secured the top grid in the WT class due to the overall time difference.
The representative of [#812 Takatsuki Garage Racing], Oriu, had a satisfied expression regarding the overall pole position results in the qualifying, saying it was "as planned." When asked about the factors, he first mentioned the "Rider's practice volume," proudly stating, "Our Rider's training volume is unmatched by any team." In response to that trust, he mentioned that there are Riders who have improved their times by nearly a second from practice to today's main event. During the race, he declared, "We do not focus on fuel-efficient driving," demonstrating the presence of last year's 'Open Mote tai' champion.
In the afternoon, a 4-hour endurance race will be held with 27 teams that unfortunately did not pass the qualifying round. Starting from a Le Mans-style start, the top qualifier #67 Power Factory Roadway takes the hole shot, but the following #88 Plan B Racing Team × ARATA and #101 Quattro Rosso Indies closely follow, battling it out from the opening lap.
After more than an hour from the start, the need for refueling arises, and every time they pit in, #88 Plan B Racing × ARATA and #101 Quore Rosso Indies compete for the top position. However, at the timing of 42 minutes remaining, #101 Quore Rosso Indies, which was in the lead, pits in for refueling, allowing #88 Plan B Racing to take the lead. Having completed a long run of 33 laps before the first pit stop, attention was focused on whether #88 Plan B Racing could maintain this until the end, but they had to pit for refueling with 25 minutes remaining. At this point, #101 Quore Rosso Indies reclaimed the top position and received the checkered flag, achieving a remarkable victory in the 4-hour endurance race.
