Following the "Open Mote tai (Mote endurance)" held a week earlier, the 2010 "Mote tai Masters" was held.
Just like the "Open Mote tai," the weather remained harsh with lingering summer heat, but all 25 teams participating in the final race enjoyed the "Mote tai Masters" with their own hopes, creating fun summer memories.
At 10 AM, the final race started with a Le Mans-style start, symbolizing the endurance race. The rider who seized the holeshot with perfect timing and dominated the opening lap was Nishikishiro Nakano from #1 NR Project & Yokoyama, who performed the best qualifying story and secured pole position. Following him were Hiroshi Maruyama from #17 WITHME RACING and Hidemine Kato from #22 Hamamatsu Ebisu Motors & PANOLIN. These three machines maintained a pace in the 2-minute 4-second range from the beginning, engaging in a fierce battle as if it were a sprint race. Then, on the 19th lap, #17 WITHME RACING made an early pit-in for refueling and rider change among the top three. Following that, #22 Hamamatsu Ebisu Motors & PANOLIN made their first pit-in on the 22nd lap, and #1 NR Project & Yokoyama on the 24th lap, with each team progressing smoothly in the race.
About two hours after the start, the lap counts of the top teams began to show some movement. The two teams battling for the top spot were #1 NR Project & Yokoyama in the SS class and #24 2Rinkan R.T. in the B1 class, so it was expected that the difference in the number of pit stops would be the deciding factor. Therefore, due to fuel efficiency issues, #1 NR Project & Yokoyama inevitably had more refueling stops, so they adopted a strategy where all riders aimed to mark lap times faster than the other teams to offset the time loss during pit stops and break away.
On the other hand, #24 2Rinkan R.T. aimed for the top by making six pit stops and maintaining stable lap times. As a result, both teams continued running the same number of laps, 83, at the three-hour mark.
At the end of the 4-hour mark, #1 NR Project & Yokoyama completed 110 laps, successfully putting a lap ahead of the second place and below. #24 2Rinkan R.T. followed, with #22 Hamamatsu Ebisu Motors & PANOLIN in third place with 108 laps, followed by #70 Lilica AMENA and #17 WITHME RACING.
As is typical of the Masters, various machines created their own dramas as time passed, with less than one hour remaining. Each team took on their final runs. Around the last 40 minutes, #24 2rinkang R.T., running in second place, completed their sixth and final pit stop as planned for refueling and Rider change. Following closely, #1 NR Project & Yokoyama, who had been leading comfortably, made their eighth pit-in. They completed refueling and Rider change smoothly and sent out their final Rider. Despite not changing tires, they maintained stable lap times in the 2 minutes 3 to 4 seconds range while lapping.
Moreover, on the 179th lap, they caught up to #24 2rinkang R.T. at the exit from the S curve to the V curve, establishing a full 2-lap lead and sealing the victory. As a result, #1 NR Project & Yokoyama completed a record 191 laps in the history of Mote tai (Mote endurance), achieving their long-cherished first victory.
"In 2010, NR Project had no plans to participate. We waited until the very last moment before the entry deadline, and it was only thanks to the cooperation of Moto Garage Yokoyama and the vehicle owner Mr. Arai that we were able to achieve this result. We had no particular strategy for the final race; rather, we were only focused on setting a Course Record in qualifying. However, since everyone was able to maintain a stable pace, I believe this result would have been the same regardless of who rode in which order. Since 2011 will be the last year for the Mote tai Masters, I want to set a Course Record in 2011 and carve an eternal record in Mote tai. Also, I would like to team up with some magazine or media outlet. If anyone is interested, please do contact us!" he commented.
[#24 2rinkang R.T.] finished 2nd place with 189 laps. "Even though we are competing under the banner of the company 2rinkang and have a favorable environment, the Rider's practice time was insufficient. In 2011, I want to practice more than ever before and take on the Mote tai (Mote endurance)," he expressed his enthusiasm.
In 3rd place, with a result of 188 laps, was 【#22 Hamamatsu Ebisu Motors & PANOLIN】. "It's unfortunate that Rider Sano got injured on his bicycle before the race and couldn't participate. He has been competing in Mote tai for 13 years, so I hope to participate in 2011 as well and maintain a perfect attendance record. Of course, in the finale of 2011, I want Sano to run properly!" he commented.
During the race, the best lap was marked by Akira Kaminaga of #17 WITHME RACING on the 176th lap with a time of 2'01.451.
Thus, the 2010 Mote tai (Mote endurance) came to a close. In 2011, the Masters will hold the grand finale race, bringing an end to one chapter of history, but the spirit of Mote tai will be carried on by the "Open Mote tai."
Although various dramas will continue to unfold, the passionate and strong feelings toward the final "Mote tai Masters" are already being conveyed by many participants. Please look forward to a Mote tai that will satisfy both racers and spectators alike.
