In its 11th year, "Mote tai" has taken a new step forward. On August 30 (Sat), we will hold the "Mote tai Masters," continuing the tradition since 1998. The rain that fell until the morning has stopped, the track dried during the free practice, and the race will start in dry conditions.
Starting from pole position, #5 Nakano Racing Project NR took the holeshot and led the race. Following in second grid was #19 Vesla Racing, along with a strong start from #135 Tras & PIAA, #83 Team JP Racing JRC, #2 2Rinkan R.T., #22 Hamamatsu Ebisu M, FCB & RC30, and #7 Auto Boy RC + Windy, all clearing the first and second corners. #5 Nakano Racing Project NR showcased their strength, having secured pole position for two consecutive years, quickly pulling away from the rest of the pack. #19 Vesla Racing, eager to chase, unfortunately slowed down due to a hub bearing failure, forcing them to pit. Additionally, #51 Team Iwaki, which brought an original machine, stopped at the entrance of the S-curve after 50 minutes, dropping significantly in position. Furthermore, misfortune struck the leading #5 Nakano Racing Project NR as they experienced fuel starvation symptoms in the third sector, causing them to slow down. They managed to return to the pits, but continued to struggle with fuel efficiency thereafter.
An hour has passed, and many teams have entered their first pit stop, but #135 Tras & PIAA finally enters the pit after 1 hour and 10 minutes. During this pit stop, #2 2rinkang R.T. takes the lead, but after an hour and a half from the start, they experience a high side at the V corner, causing the brake adjuster to contact the fairing, locking the front and resulting in a painful fall. They are unable to restart immediately, significantly dropping their position. In the early stages of the race, as accidents befall many strong teams, #135 Tras & PIAA regains the lead. Later, #37 Team Freeway + RS Ito briefly overtakes #135 Tras & PIAA to take the lead, but with the 24-liter tank of the A2 class and excellent fuel efficiency, #135 Tras & PIAA showcases consistent riding, putting the teams in second place and below a lap down.
With 15 minutes remaining, Team Freeway + RS Ito overtook Riding Sports & Fire and rose to 4th place. They then closed in on Kitokito RT Kibi Nago, who was running in 3rd place. And with less than 5 minutes to go, Team Freeway + RS Ito caught up with Kitokito RT Kibi Nago and entered the podium zone.
Leading the race, 【#135 Tras&PIAA】 initially considered increasing pit stops due to worse fuel efficiency than planned, but ultimately completed the 7-hour race as per strategy. They finished 185 laps and crossed the finish line in 1st place. This marked their first victory in the Mote tai (Mote endurance) challenge in its 10th year. Remarkably, they only made 4 pit stops, winning by a margin of 3 laps over the 2nd place. "It wasn't that easy. In the end, I couldn't decide whether to refuel or just push until the last moment. I'm glad we managed to finish as we did," said the winning driver, Takashi Toda. "I'm so happy! It's an honor to achieve the first victory for a completely normal car in the Mote tai (Mote endurance) with foreign cars," said Yoshinari Matsushita. "I believe we achieved this victory because everything came together in various aspects," said Eiji Saito. "This is my 10th year participating with BMW. It was a race without any detailed parts, but we managed to run well within the regulations. It feels like the results of 10 years of enjoyment have come to fruition. I hope the Mote tai (Mote endurance) continues for 20, 30 more times. I want to keep participating as long as it continues," commented team director Noboru Muto, bursting with joy.
The #5 Nakano Racing Project, which experienced a gas shortage four times, finished in 2nd place for the second consecutive year, while #37 Team Freeway + RS Ito, which improved its position just before the finish line, took 3rd place.
