What is Hello Woods?
Motegi
Motegi is located at the eastern edge of Tochigi Prefecture, bordering Ibaraki Prefecture, approximately 100 km from Tokyo, about 31 km from Utsunomiya, and around 36 km from Mito.
Most of the town consists of hilly terrain at an elevation of 150 to 250 meters, belonging to the Keisoku Mountain Range of the Yamizo Mountains, which continue along the Tochigi-Ibaraki prefectural border. The dendritic valleys create a varied landscape. The area is also blessed with water, with the Sakagawa River, which unusually flows northward within the prefecture, originating from the southern tip of the town, and the Naka River, originating from the Nasu mountain range, merging in the northeastern part of the town.
This region is close to the northern limit of yuzu and mandarin cultivation, while also being the southern limit of apple cultivation, and salmon migration can also be seen. As such, it has both the climatic characteristics of northern and southern Japan.
Composition
Program
At Hello Woods, we hope to inspire more people to take an interest in nature and to promote coexistence between humans and nature. That is why we offer a variety of experience programs that can be enjoyed throughout the four seasons.
-

"Interested・Awareness"
"Forest Play" is a program that vividly conveys the various "connections of life" overflowing in the satoyama of Mobility Resort Motegi in the field.
By walking through the forest and directly touching the living creatures, you can truly feel the connections of life within the forest and the joy of exploration. Through such experiences, it provides an opportunity to become aware of the connection between people and nature and to turn your attention to the environment surrounding yourself. -

"Think and express"
"Manufacturing" is a program that allows you to experience the joy of creating things with your own hands using natural materials found in the satoyama of Mobility Resort Motegi.
By receiving the blessings of nature, we nurture a heart that values things, and by using natural materials that are each unique and creating freely, we hope to cherish "individuality."
There are "Forest Crafts" that preschool children to adults can enjoy anytime, tailored to their interests each season, and "Woodworking Classes" where participants create works such as plates and bowls using authentic tools under the guidance of an artist. -

"Notice, Express, Share"
"Outdoor Cooking" is a program offered in the life-filled satoyama of Hello Woods that provides an opportunity to feel that "people live by eating life."
Since fiscal 2008, we have also started vegetable cultivation, including soil preparation.
It is a somewhat labor-intensive challenge without pesticides or chemical fertilizers. Participants harvest seasonal ingredients from the field together, then use their deliciousness to cook with a Dutch oven or bake pizza and bread using a stone oven. -

"Notice, Think, Share"
"Hello Woods Camp" is a program that makes use of the satoyama landscape at Mobility Resort Motegi, allowing participants to enjoy living in nature (eating, sleeping, playing) while sharing awareness of new possibilities.
Through the "Outdoor Living" experience, we hope participants will feel the connection between nature and humans, reflect on their everyday selves, awaken the instincts latent within humans, and find a trigger to create a naturally energetic and slightly wild lifestyle. -

"Notice and Think"
"Forest Creation" is a program conducted at the vast forest of Mobility Resort Motegi, aiming to share the enjoyment and joy gained from the forest with many people through forest creation.
By intervening in the forest, we aim to awaken the latent charm of diverse organisms and ecosystems, transforming the area into a beautiful, comfortable, and enjoyable space, as well as a vibrant environment, while striving for forest creation that is kind to both people and living creatures.
