Gaki Daisho Family Camp ~ Canoe Edition ~
Enjoy a canoe touring in the luxurious season when the mountains and rivers sparkle brilliantly!
Spend time at the "Gaki Taisho Family Camp" with Hello Woods, who are well-versed in how to enjoy nature, and Forest Producer Ryuichiro Sakino. This time, enjoy canoe touring on the Nakagawa River, the cleanest stream in the Kanto region. On the first day, practice in a calm-flowing area, and on the second day, go downstream riding the current. At night, gather around a campfire on the riverbank and enjoy a relaxing time away from everyday life.

| Health Survey | To investigate how moving actively in nature, being exposed to sunlight, and living a regular lifestyle affect children's bodies and minds, the following health survey is conducted as part of the Experience program of the Gaki Taisho Forest Camp. (Main Contents) ・Measurement of melatonin, an indicator of sleep rhythm ・Recording of physical activity using an activity meter ・Illuminance measurement to examine exposure to natural light ・Body measurements ・Comparison of lifestyle records such as sleep duration and bowel movements during the camp and before and after the camp * These surveys are conducted in collaboration with experts from Nippon Sport Science University and the National Institute for Environmental Studies. |

This program aims to teach children the basics of safely handling tools such as knives in nature. During camp life, knives are used not only for meal preparation but also for whittling wood and crafting, making their use quite frequent. Rather than forbidding their use because they are "dangerous," this program allows participants to experientially learn that "when used correctly, they are safe and useful tools." "Woodworking Course: Getting to Know Wood" by Japanese lacquer craftsman Matsuzaki Yutaka
Handcrafting exquisite pieces by carving precious natural wood into your desired shapes and applying lacquer coating
We carefully carve trees such as zelkova and horse chestnut using tools like chisels and planes.
The instructor will apply lacquer to the作品, making it durable and long-lasting for you. For beginners, we will assist you so that you can complete it in one day.

Therefore, I keep the technique as simple as possible, cherish the beauty of the form, apply layers of lacquer onto that shape, and stop when it looks beautiful to my own eyes. I seek the beauty of the form, dress it in a strong kimono, and through use by people, it becomes even more beautiful and lustrous. I want my works to possess dignity alongside strength. |
