2022 "Mote tai (Mote endurance)" September 11 (Sun) Race Report

Before the start check, morning briefing before the final, and after free practice, the machines lined up on the grid, ready for the 25th "Mote tai (Mote endurance)" start. The weather was clear on Sunday as well, and although the humidity was lower compared to the usual August events, the sunlight was strong and the temperature rose to 27 degrees.

The race started with two groups in a Le Mans-style start. The holeshot was taken by Tohru Ukawa of #67 Riding Sports & Fire 67, who started from the 4th grid. Following him were #51 Vesla Racing TEC2 & YSS, #10 Team Dendenmaru Car No. 10, #32 Team SANMEI, #78 Team PWF, and #47 PROGRESS Garage Harada Himeji as they exited the second corner.

The opening lap was dominated by #67 Riding Sports & Fire 67, followed by #51 Vesla Racing TEC2 & YSS, #32 Team SANMEI, and #78 Team PWF, with #66 TSC & DF Norizu moving up to 4th place. However, at this point, the two cars in 7th place, #117 ★Nanatsuboshi with Uprise & Section, and in 8th place, #74 Rank Up Racing, increased their pace and began to compete for the lead. Behind them, #66 TSC & DF Norizu, #67 Riding Sports & Fire 67, and #51 Vesla Racing TEC2 & YSS were engaged in a battle for 3rd place.

As an hour passes, cars begin to enter the first pit stop one after another. At 1 hour and 10 minutes, the car in the lead, #117 Nanatsuboshi with Uprise & Section, makes its pit stop. Taking the lead in its place is #51 Vesla Racing TEC2 & YSS. From here, #51 Vesla Racing TEC2 & YSS, which balances fuel efficiency and speed, sometimes relinquishes the top position during pit stop timing but maintains the initiative. #51 Vesla Racing TEC2 & YSS makes its first pit stop at 1 hour and 20 minutes, completing the 35th lap. Among the top contenders, #10 Team Dendenmaru Car No. 10 is the last to pit, finally heading to the pit after 1 hour and 20 minutes.

After that, #74 Rank Up Racing and #62 MASSA-R also take the lead, but #51 Besra Racing TEC2&YSS quickly regains the top position and expands its lead.

A crash occurred after 4 hours and 47 minutes, and since the machine was left on the course, a safety car was introduced. The safety car run lasted for about 19 minutes, but it did not affect the overall outcome of the race.

And leading the pack, #51 Vesla Racing TEC2&YSS made their final pit stop after 5 hours and 47 minutes. After refueling and changing tires to ensure everything was perfect, the checkered flag rider, Takao Fukuda, exited the pit. With 21 minutes remaining, he marked the fastest lap with flawless driving, completing 169 laps. He achieved victory with an overwhelming speed, finishing 3 laps ahead of 2nd place.

"The team members each did what they had to do, and we achieved victory. I think it was good that we were able to respond flexibly while monitoring fuel consumption at each moment. In the end, we realized we had enough gasoline, so we ran with all our might and managed to get the fastest lap, which was great. We were able to take revenge for last year, and I am grateful to Tech 2's Fujiwara-san for his control and to Gachapin (Akihito Sato) for bringing the team together," said Fukuda.

In the back, each team was experiencing a mix of joy and sorrow. With one hour remaining, #67 Riding Sports & Fire 67 brought in former MotoGPTM Rider Ukawa. Starting from 11th place, he began a fierce charge with consistent lap times in the 2:15 range, matching the leaders.

On the other hand, the #62 MASSA-R, which was in third place, made a pit stop, but after the safety car came in, they checked the fuel tank and found there was still fuel left, so they only changed the Rider and left the pit without refueling, resulting in a regrettable fuel shortage. They managed to return to the pit, but lost a significant position.

And behind the strong performance of #135 B.S.C.with Young Machine 135, who is in third place overall with the BMW G310, is driver Ukawa from #67 Riding Sports & Fire 67 closing in. The gap shrinks with each lap, and finally, with 15 minutes remaining, #67 Riding Sports & Fire 67 moves ahead to take third place, but that was as far as the advance went.

In 2nd place was [#74 Rank Up Racing], followed by [#67 Riding Sports & Fire 67] in 3rd place. [#135 B.S.C. with Young Machine 135] finished in 4th place, securing victory in the G310R class. In 7th place was [#47 PROGRESS Garage Harada Himeji], becoming the inaugural winner of the newly established ZX class this year. In 8th place was [#61 Nakamura Engine Laboratory], which at one point was running in 3rd overall, and topped the CBR class. In the R25 class, [#87 CLUB Green Bird +P & FAST] finished in 18th place, while in the WS class, [#75 Riding Sports & Fire 75] finished in 35th place, and in the Ninja class, [#97 Mochitec 97] finished in 47th place, each securing class victories.
