The 20th Motegi KART endurance festival "K-TAI". This year, due to the impact of the new coronavirus, we have decided to forgo group photos, checkered flag experiences, and pit reports from the Twin Ring Motegi Angels, shortening the event from 7 hours to 5 hours. Thanks to the cooperation of all participants, we were able to implement measures to prevent the spread of infection and successfully hold the event.

As July, which had been filled with rain, came to an end and August began, the rainy season finally cleared, and the intense summer heat arrived. On August 2 (Sun), when the final event of K-TAI was held, the sky was clear from the morning and the temperature rose. It was expected to be a grueling endurance event in the harsh heat, but with many clouds and less sunlight, the conditions turned out to be somewhat easier.

The final event, slightly delayed from the scheduled time, started with a rolling start lasting 5 hours. The first to enter the first corner was the second grid's #86 Corolla New Ibaraki-ReonKids-1. Following were #101 FIELD@tousou, #30 Corolla New Ibaraki-ReonKids-2, and the pole position holder #31 3% Drunk @GEN. The opening lap was led by #86 Corolla New Ibaraki-ReonKids-1, closely followed by #30 Corolla New Ibaraki-ReonKids-2, forming a 1-2 position. In third place was #101 FIELD@tousou, while #11 Scuderia LCT rose to fourth, followed by #75 RF.AOYAMA Sake Powers, #31 3% Drunk @GEN, and #25 racer racer T.F.A as they entered the second lap.

As they steadily completed laps, the rankings changed during pit stops as usual. At the one-hour mark, #38 TeamKRS-DAI&MKS was in the lead, but #510 510club, with faster lap times, moved ahead, only to pit shortly after. Once again, #38 TeamKRS-DAI&MKS took the lead. In the back, #56 Yokohama Small Four-Wheel Racing Team and #23 A1-RACING RED were battling for 2nd place.

At the halfway point of two and a half hours, #38 TeamKRS-DAI&MKS has completed 47 laps and is maintaining the lead. #4 ddd has moved up to second place, and #80 OREGA RACING@GEN is in third place, on the same lap as the leader.

Then, as the final hour approached, each team's strategy became clear. At this point, #2 Hayakoba Racing was leading with 76 laps. #4 ddd and #38 TeamKRS-DAI&MKS were chasing on the same lap. While many teams had already made five or more pit stops, #4 ddd had only pitted four times. With 45 minutes remaining, #2 Hayakoba Racing pitted, allowing #4 ddd to take the lead, but with 40 minutes left, #4 ddd also headed to the pits. At this point, #86 Corolla New Ibaraki-ReonKids-1 surged to the top, with #23 A1-RACING RED in pursuit. However, with 27 minutes remaining, a kart leaked oil from the downhill straight to the 90-degree corner, prompting the deployment of the safety car to handle the situation. The gap between the two teams narrowed to 1.759 seconds, but due to the oil cleanup, the race ended under the safety car, and #86 Corolla New Ibaraki-ReonKids-1 received the checkered flag in first place. However, #86 Corolla New Ibaraki-ReonKids-1 was penalized with a two-lap deduction for overtaking during the safety car period, resulting in #23 A1-RACING RED receiving the award for the most laps completed.
"We were able to run with two cars from the same team and save fuel. It's a victory of teamwork. There was contact at the hairpin midway, causing a 180-degree spin and a loss of time, so without that, we might have been able to take the checkered flag in first place," said driver Yuta Kishi.

#86 Corolla New Ibaraki-ReonKids-1 still won the Most Laps Award in Class III. In Class I, #125 Blue Eyes k achieved a consecutive second victory.
And the MVP went to #78 SPJ TECORSA.
