2014 "K-TAI" Challenge Class 5-Hour Final Event Report

#52 BLACKOUT R/T shines in MVP! #20 SuperChipsDream marked 104 laps with 7 pit stops, winning the most laps award!!

2014 "K-TAI" Challenge Class 5-Hour Final Event Report The K-TAI, held on the first weekend of September 2014, served as the finale of the four major endurance races at Twin Ring Motegi. On September 6 (Sat), the Challenge Class 5-hour endurance race took place with 30 cars participating. The weather in the past few days had felt like autumn, but as the weekend arrived, it became muggy as if summer had returned.

At 10:30, as scheduled from the rolling lap, the race started with the rising sun flag waved by the Motegi Angel. The first to dive into the first corner was pole position #8 TeamHKR, followed by #4 ddd in third grid, #20 SuperChipsDream, and #77 Endo Auto Service No. 1. However, it was #20 SuperChipsDream that returned from the opening lap in the lead. They entered the second lap with a significant lead over the second place and below. #4 ddd, aiming for the fourth Most Laps Award, was chasing but couldn't increase the pace as expected and was overtaken by #52 BLACKOUT R/T, who had been pushing up from the back, leading to a battle for third place with #23 A1-RACING and #77 Endo Auto Service No. 1.

At the one-hour mark, #20 SuperChipsDream had completed 21 laps and was in the lead, followed by #4 ddd, #23 A1-RACING, #77 Endo Auto Service No. 1, and #46 SRKT Challenge ADVAN all on the same lap. However, by the two-hour mark, #23 A1-RACING had completed 42 laps and taken the lead. #20 SuperChipsDream was also on the same lap in second place, but there was a two-lap gap to those in third place and below, indicating that the battle for the top was shaping up to be a showdown between #23 A1-RACING and #20 SuperChipsDream.

After that, #20 SuperChipsDream showed its speed, regained the top position, and began to extend its lead. #23 A1-RACING desperately pursued, but the gap continued to widen. The number of pit stops was 7 for #20 SuperChipsDream and 6 for #23 A1-RACING, but #20 SuperChipsDream executed its strategy perfectly, completed 104 laps, and was the first to receive the checkered flag.

"Thanks to the best oil, the best tires, and the best engine, we were able to win the most laps award. We were able to execute our strategy of escaping from the start. In the final stages, the brakes were tough, but the number of pit stops was as expected, and above all, thanks to A driver Mr. Utagawa, we were able to achieve this result," said Morimoto from BATTO 20 SuperChipsDream, leaving a joyful comment right after the checkered flag.

#23 A1-RACING received the Excellent Lap Count Award with 103 laps. #21 We Racing followed with 100 laps. The Class II leader was #7 Team ABOUT, finishing 15th overall, while the Class III leader was #125 BLUE EYES K, finishing 6th overall.

And the MVP was selected as #52 BLACKOUT R/T. Of course, they perfectly handled the procedures such as entry and vehicle inspection. Their total coordination, including team wear and kart dress-up, and their remarkable teamwork were highly evaluated, as the entire team enjoyed K-TAI together. They received a double award with the Jump Up Award and showed smiles on the podium.
