The 12th "Motegi KART Endurance Festival 'K-TAI'" started on July 21 (Sat). On this day, the final event of the 5-hour challenge endurance race was held. The event began with an opening declaration by the Motegi Angels. During the briefing, precautions were confirmed. After that, vehicles were prepared, and participants took their positions on the grid. On the grid, the announcer and the Motegi Angels introduced each team one by one. The voltage was rising as the start approached.
All 34 teams enter the rolling lap on schedule. As they approach the 90-degree corner from the downhill straight and reach the Victory Corner, the safety car pits in, the national flag is waved, and the signal turns green, marking the start of the 5-hour endurance challenge! First, the pole position holder #4 ddd shows an excellent start dash and enters the first corner in the lead. Following them are #87 Robot Racing Team R in second grid, #78 Team SYOTA in fourth grid, #34 AWA by Sugimura Juku in third grid, #62 Chikara Giki System in fifth grid, #84 Team HKR in seventh grid, and #85 Team GPK by HKR in sixth grid.
The car that returned first on the opening lap was #78 Team SYOTA. They had pulled away from the rest of the field and were in a solo lead. #52 BLACK OUT R/T moved up to second place, followed by #62 Chikara Waza System, #4 ddd, #84 Team HKR, and #34 AWAby Sugimura Juku, all crossing the control line together. After that, #78 Team SYOTA continued to lead, while #52 BLACK OUT R/T, who had broken away from the battle for second, began to chase. However, #52 BLACK OUT R/T experienced symptoms of running out of gas and slowed down. Shortly after, #78 Team SYOTA, who was leading, along with others, entered the pits for refueling. #88 Team Douraku no Kai @ SILK took the lead, but behind them, #20 SuperChipsDream was close behind and moved ahead as if planned. On the 7th lap, they marked the fastest lap with a time of 2 minutes 33 seconds 493 and continued to lead!! It seemed they had secured the 15th Lap Award given to the lap leader on the 15th lap, but on the 14th lap, #20 SuperChipsDream pitted. During this time, #21 Orera Racing rose to the top and won the 15th Lap Award.
On this day, the scorching heat receded, creating a pleasantly cool condition. Perhaps the machines, tires, and the drivers maneuvering the karts found some ease, as there was no need for a safety car, and each team continued to complete laps.
At the point when 2 hours had passed, [#510 ReonSuperKids-1] was in the lead, followed by 6 teams on the same lap, and the outcome of the most laps award was in a chaotic situation. However, after 4 hours had passed, [#4 ddd] and [#21 We Racing], both having completed 81 laps, narrowed down the top contenders. After that, [#4 ddd] showed a stable performance at a high pace, jumping into the solo lead and maintaining that position until the checkered flag. [#4 ddd] completed 102 laps and won the most laps award.
"Fortunately, we were able to secure pole position, and it was cool, so the engine had some leeway. However, since everyone had the same cool conditions, the key factor was the tires. I would say that the perfect tire choice was the reason for our victory. The balance between speed and fuel efficiency worked well, and we executed our strategy without any penalties or mistakes," said Shirai from [#4 ddd].
The 2nd place for the Excellent Lap Count Award goes to four teams: #20 SuperChipsDream, #2 ReonSuperKids-2, #510 ReonSuperKids-1, and #21 Ours Racing, who recorded 101 laps. The 3rd place for the Excellent Lap Count Award was awarded to #22 A1-RACING and #33 Gulf kid's IKB, who recorded 100 laps.
And the MVP was chosen as [#78 Team SYOTA]. The selection reason was that they completed the procedures perfectly without any deficiencies, finished without penalties, entered as a parent-child driver team, and participated with a large number of drivers and pit crew, enjoying "K-TAI".
By the way, A driver Shota Tokiwa was the same age as Twin Ring Motegi at 15 years old.
