On July 25 (Sun), we held the 7-hour endurance event of the 10th anniversary Endurance Carnival 2010 Mote KART Endurance Festival "K-TAI". Following the 5-hour endurance event the day before, this day also featured a participatory event using karts with 4-stroke general-purpose engines. "K-TAI" has been supported by various fans over the years, and in 2010, 109 teams participated in the 7-hour endurance event.
As the temperature rose from early morning, the customary driver parade began with PIPIRA of KOCHIRA Racing leading the way. With drivers from all 109 teams gathered, the venue's liveliness increased steadily, turning into something like a festival atmosphere. Every team participated in the briefing with expressions that said, "We will enjoy running all the way to the finish after 7 hours!"
The oath of the athletes on the second day was taken by #1 Racing the Ape, who won the MVP at the 2009 7-hour endurance event.
The greetings with the officials supporting "K-TAI" and related parties have become an annual tradition, and after 10 years, it was an opening ceremony and briefing that made us feel how many people support the event.
The 7-hour endurance final event starts at 10:00. The participants are divided into two groups, starting in a rolling manner. This kind of start with two groups has already become a characteristic scene of "K-TAI." The team that returned first was the #20 Super Chips Dream, which started from grid 17, while the #2 K.R.R GX DREAM1 and #96 Club Racing Dou surged through in a tight pack. After one hour, leading the pack with 21 laps was #2 K.R.R GX DREAM1, followed by #20 Super Chips Dream, #3 K.R.R GX DREAM2, #4 ddd, #74 Friends and KME, #96 Club Racing Dou, #7 R2-RACING@GEN, #21 We Racing + TRM KL, #86 REON SuperKids3, and #808 Opera Super Performance, making a total of 10 cars lined up on the same lap, symbolizing the intense content of the subsequent event.
During the event on this day, various activities will be held on-site. Participants can effectively utilize opportunities to promote themselves directly to the audience through pit reports by the Twin Ring Motegi Angels, PR announcements in the announcement room, and real-time messages submitted via email. The interesting promotions from various participants and interactions with the announcers, heard through the public address system, are valuable experiences that cannot be found in typical spectator motorsports. This friendly atmosphere is unique to "K-TAI." Moreover, the continuous interest in PR opportunities and real-time message submissions serves as proof of how well these activities are received by participants.
On the other hand, during the intense racing of the final event, at the midpoint, the two teams that were marking the most laps and continuing to compete for the top were #808 Opera Super Performance and #2 K.R.R GX DREAM1, which showed a remarkable overtaking of over 100 cars. They gradually widened the gap with the other teams and continued to race towards the checkered flag at the finish.
Around 16:10, with less than an hour remaining, the sky above Twin Ring Motegi was covered with rain clouds, and it started to drizzle. About 10 minutes later, the rain intensified into large drops, prompting the introduction of the safety car with approximately 30 minutes left, considering the safety of the participants. For a while, they continued to lap under the guidance of the safety car, aiming for the checkered flag 7 hours later, but the weather conditions worsened into strong winds and thunderstorms. As a result, considering the safety of the participants, a red flag was displayed after 6 hours and 41 minutes had passed since the start. At this point, the final event was concluded.
As a result, the most laps award for the 7-hour endurance event in the Challenge Class was won by #2 K.R.R GX DREAM1, who completed 129 laps. Remarkably, following the 5-hour endurance event the previous day, they achieved the incredible feat of winning both days. "I am happy to have perfectly executed the strategy I had in mind and to have won the most laps for two consecutive days," was the comment. Additionally, in the Enjoy Class, #75 RF Aoyama. Sake Powers, who completed 125 laps, stated, "I am surprised by the unexpected result." Furthermore, the excellent lap awards were won by Challenge Class #808 Opera Super Performance, #777 REON SuperKids1, #3 K.R.R GX DREAM2, and in the Enjoy Class, #196 Team IMA・OMSC, #8 Hayakobare Racing★IMP, #76 RF Aoyama・KRT, and #120 TEAMKRS-DAI & MKS.
And the MVP award, which everyone was focused on, was won by [#16 Yomiuri Automobile College]. All drivers participated in every driving event, and the entry procedures were smooth. The school's united effort to work hard towards the goal of "K-TAI" was the reason for the award.
The award ceremony this time was held in the pit due to bad weather. Although the event was interrupted by a red flag due to thunderstorms, it resulted in the event being completed, and it turned into an award ceremony filled with smiles from everyone who gathered there.
Thus, the memorable two days of the 2010 "K-TAI", marking the 10th anniversary of the event, have come to a close. Aiming for the development of 4-stroke sports karts, "K-TAI" is set to power up even more!
