The "JOY TAI" has reached its 10th milestone. In 2010, the number of registered drivers was increased from 2 to 5, making it easier and more enjoyable for more people.
The official qualifiers took place on July 10 (Sat), with clear blue skies and extreme heat from the morning. In this heat, the A drivers from each team began their time attacks. They were divided into two groups by class, and both A drivers and B drivers ran once each in a 30-minute session, with the fastest times reflected on the grid.
The B driver of Group 2, the final session of qualifying, began their attack. Under harsh conditions with the track temperature exceeding 50 degrees, Hiroki Kato of the A4 class 【#2 Shiden Team's Lotus 2-11】 set a time of 2 minutes 12.417 seconds to claim pole position.
"(Mobility Resort Motegi) I last raced here in 2009 during the Lotus Cup, but since the machine has good qualities, I was able to secure pole position. The fuel efficiency isn't great, so for the final on July 11 (Sun), I want everyone to enjoy the race while feeling the tension. It would be perfect if we get a good position. Above all, I will enjoy receiving the checkered flag without any trouble," said driver Kato.
The B5 class top of PUTO #83 HONDA NSX recorded 2 minutes 12 seconds 916, the B4 class top of PUTO #40 Holiday Auto × Reduca YH-EG6 recorded 2 minutes 14 seconds 632, and the B3 class top of PUTO #199 KRac & Kurosawa Automobile Civic recorded 2 minutes 16 seconds 458.
The "JOY TAI" 3-hour endurance race took place as scheduled at 14:15 after the official qualifying ended. Five cars were entered, but the "#70 M-Sports Tiger S2000" could not take its place on the grid due to machine trouble. The race aimed for the finish line after 3 hours with a clean rolling start from the 4 cars.
Starting from pole position, the #78 Cars Hitachi Minami Car Tech Civic entered the first corner first, followed by the #28 Forward Racing BMW M3, which started from the third grid position, in second place. Then, between corners 4 and 5, the #28 Forward Racing BMW M3 overtook the #78 Cars Hitachi Minami Car Tech Civic to take the lead. However, after 23 minutes had passed, the #28 Forward Racing BMW M3 pitted for refueling. The #78 Cars Hitachi Minami Car Tech Civic regained the lead and pulled away with a dominant performance. They had built a solid position, but with 50 minutes remaining, they slowed down due to running two laps more than planned and running out of fuel.
The car stopped on the inside of the 90-degree corner, and it seemed all was lost for a moment, but the officials desperately pushed the car, and somehow it reached the refueling area. After refueling, it returned to the course while maintaining the lead. It then received the checkered flag, with the 【#78 Cars Hitachi Minami Car Tech Civic】 winning the 3-hour endurance race for the first time in two years.
The gap to 2nd place 【#171 NWR Civic SPM】 was only 1.176 seconds. 【#28 Forward Racing BMW M3】 also finished 3rd on the same lap. 【#37 CRUX Oyako MAC】, despite the parent-child power, unfortunately retired.
