What is the Moto Festival?
Enjoyable event to run on the Grand Prix course with mini bikes
The "Moto Festival" is an event that started in 2021 with the motto "A festival for everyone to enjoy BIKE together."
It targets the mini bike category called 4-stroke mini bikes, and a major feature is the regulation that anyone aged 12 and over can participate.
In the "Moto Mini 6 Hours," up to 6 Riders and up to 6 pit crew members can be registered, allowing families and friends to invite each other and enjoy the event as a united team.
Additionally, the event includes elements such as mini-games held during the race and fuel efficiency calculations based on refueling restrictions, making it not just a race that simply competes for speed. A unique feature of this event is that excessively fast lap times are penalized.
Furthermore, to ensure that even race beginners can participate with peace of mind, a total of three practice sessions are held before the main event.
In the practice sessions, in addition to free riding, programs are provided to safely enjoy circuit riding, including "Safe Driving Lectures" by professional riders for beginners, "Beginner Riding Slots," and "Road Course Bus Tours."
The participating machines in the "Moto Mini 6 Hours" are subject to the rule that states, "vehicles with a 4-stroke engine with a displacement of 100cc or less that are commercially available for public roads (those with domestic type certification) and sports-specific vehicles recognized by the secretariat as having the same body structure as commercially available public road vehicles with a displacement of 100cc or less." Therefore, there are many entries for vehicles that are specially recognized by the secretariat (YAMAHA/TTR90, Honda/XR100R, CRF100F, XR80, XR70, XR50, CRF50, Z50R, DREAM50R). Additionally, modifications to the frame and other parts are strictly prohibited (though some modifications for mounting fairings are allowed), but it is permitted to change to a manufacturer-shipped engine of the same type with a displacement of 100cc or less that can be swapped on with bolts. Therefore, modifications such as installing the engine from a Honda APE100 into a Honda DREAM50R are officially recognized. Furthermore, regarding wheel size, there is a regulation that states, "the rim size of the wheel must be 12 inches or larger," but vehicles that originally come with a size of 12 inches or less can participate if they are changed to 12 inches or larger. As a result, many teams using vehicles like the Honda Monkey/Gorilla or vintage cars that meet the above regulations also participate. Additionally, by standardizing the carburetor diameter to φ22 and prohibiting the use of water-cooled engines and fuel injection, a certain level of equal conditions is maintained, which can be considered a significant feature of the vehicles participating in the "Moto Mini 6 Hours."
This is a race event held at the 4.8013 km Mobility Resort Motegi Racing Course using mini bikes with an engine displacement of 125cc or less.
Classes are broadly divided into six categories based on the type of vehicle used and the extent of modifications.
