2013 "K-TAI" Challenge Class 5-Hour Final Event Report

#33 Gulf Kid's IKB is selected as MVP! #510 ReonSuperKids-1 marks 105 laps in 4 pit stops and wins the most laps award!!

2013 "K-TAI" Challenge Class 5-Hour Final Event Report The Japanese archipelago has been hit by the hottest weather of the summer nationwide, and Twin Ring Motegi was no exception. The temperature reached 37 degrees, with the track surface temperature nearing 60 degrees, making for a challenging 5-hour endurance race in hot and harsh conditions. The heat was relentless for both the machines and the competitors.

The Challenge 5-Hour Endurance Race with 33 cars took off. As scheduled, the national flag was waved at 10:30 from the rolling lap, and the final event started! Leading the pack was #30 ReonSuperKids-3, who drew the pole position, followed by #34 AWAby Sugimura Juku, #33 Gulf Kid's IKB, #2 ReonSuperKids-2, #11 Race Live with EIKO, and #31 Shin Shonan Shinjuku feat. fuu?. However, returning from the opening lap in first place was #510 ReonSuperKids-1, who started from the 28th grid. Following were #77 Endo AS・Z-SPEED No. 1, #20 SuperChips Dream, #11 Race Live with EIKO, and #1 Team SYOTA as they entered the second lap, but from here, three cars broke away, and in the early stages of the race, the top battle was between #510 ReonSuperKids-1, #77 Endo AS・Z-SPEED No. 1, and #20 SuperChips Dream.

In the early stages of the race, several teams experienced issues that caused their machines to stop, possibly due to the intense heat. Among them was PUTO, who won the Most Laps Award last year. After the restart, they made a strong comeback, marking a course record of 2'33.436 in the Challenge 5-Hour Endurance on the 9th lap, but the dream of back-to-back victories slipped further away.

At the point when 2 hours had passed, [#20 SuperChipsDream] was in the lead with 42 laps completed, followed by [#39 Espresso] in second place on the same lap, and [#510 ReonSuperKids-1], [#1 Team SYOTA], [#46 SRKT Challenge ADVAN], [#21 Orel Racing], and [#27 Team CooL GReeN] all with 41 laps completed.

With 1 hour remaining, the timing of pit stops and the number of pit stops caused fluctuations in rankings. Once again, #510 ReonSuperKids-1 took the lead, followed by #77 Endo AS-Z-SPEED No. 1 and #20 SuperChipsDream on the same lap, but both made pit stops. It was thought that #510 ReonSuperKids-1 would also pit again, but they completed the 5 hours and crossed the finish line in 1st place. In the end, they completed 105 laps, winning by a margin of 2 laps over the second place. The number of pit stops was an impressive 4. "We were able to accurately measure fuel consumption during the public practice, so the number of pit stops was as planned. It seems it was close at the end, but we didn't experience any symptoms of running out of gas, and we were able to enjoy the race," said driver Kotona Ushibuchi. "Both of us had a good pace, and thanks to the cooperation of everyone on the team until the end, we were able to race enjoyably," said driver Kotoha Suzuki.

On the other hand, the battle for second place was fierce until the end. With less than 13 minutes remaining, #2 ReonSuperKids-2 overtook #20 SuperChipsDream to rise to second place. However, #77 Endo AS-Z-SPEED No. 1, who was closing in at a high pace, passed #20 SuperChipsDream, which was facing troubles, to move up to third place, and finally overtook #2 ReonSuperKids-2 to take the checkered flag. #77 Endo AS-Z-SPEED No. 1 finished in second place, followed by #2 ReonSuperKids-2 and #20 SuperChipsDream. These three teams completed 103 laps and received the award for the best lap count.

Despite having a large group of up to 10 members in this entry, MVP completed the entry and vehicle inspection without any issues, and finished the race without any troubles. Their remarkable teamwork and the fact that the entire team enjoyed "K-TAI" together were recognized, leading to the selection of [#33 Gulf Kid's IKB].
