2011 "K-TAI" Enjoy Class 7-Hour Final Event Report

The 11th year of "K-TAI" was also exciting! 【#37 TeamKRS-DAI & MKS】 achieved their long-cherished goal in their 9th year challenge!!

2011 "K-TAI" Enjoy Class 7-Hour Final Event Report On July 24 (Sun), when the midsummer heat returned, the Endurance Carnival 2011 Motegi KART endurance festival "K-TAI" Enjoy 7-hour endurance was held. The "Enjoy Class" limited the changeable parts to mufflers, carburetors, and rev limiters. It became a class that anyone from beginners to veterans could enjoy more casually. This year, 87 teams entered, and each team welcomed this day, looking forward to enjoying the annual festival with matching T-shirts and beautifully colored karts.

At the opening ceremony, students from Yomiuri Automobile College gave a refreshing athlete's oath, and everyone sent off the course officials, a customary event. The briefing was held immediately afterward to confirm the Precautions.
A final check is conducted in the brief time before reaching the grid. At the grid, all teams are introduced live, and the excitement builds toward the start.

As the start approached, there were somewhat more clouds, but they blocked the sunlight, creating just the right conditions. As scheduled, at 10:00, we started in two groups using a rolling start, aiming for the goal 7 hours ahead.

#10 MIC KARTING, which drew the pole position, took the holeshot, followed by #73 Chronos, #1 Yomiuri Automobile College, #68 RG Feather Enjoy C, #27 Monocole, and #25 Robot Racing Pikachu.

There are various events during the final event, known as "K-TAI." The Motegi Angel visits the pit for surprise interviews, and in the paddock, PIPIRA is taking photos with children, while BATTO is spraying water, creating a warm atmosphere. Visiting the announcement room for team PR was very popular, resulting in wait times.

Enjoy Driving 7-Hour Endurance has passed the halfway point, and while the sunlight is pouring down from the sky, it is not as harshly hot, making for a more comfortable condition for drivers compared to previous years.

During the race, the lead changed multiple times during pit stops, but as the race approached its final stages, #37 TeamKRS-DAI & MKS pulled away from second place, solidifying their position. They completed their final pit work with about 30 minutes remaining and returned to the track in the lead. They maintained a steady pace and received the checkered flag from Ayumi Inoue, who won the most laps award, achieving their long-awaited goal on their ninth attempt.

"We have been simulating various scenarios, and it went almost as planned, but around the 3-hour mark, we started experiencing machine troubles. The drivers managed to cover for that by being careful with the acceleration. I have been participating in K-TAI since 2003, and I once won the most laps award during the mission era, but the top checker was always the goal. Finally achieving that in the 9th year makes me very happy," said Mr. Wagatsuma, the team representative of #37 TeamKRS-DAI&MKS.

#39 Team Douraku no Kai, which completed 136 laps like #37 Team KRS-DAI & MKS, won the most laps award. #55 Tokyo Motorsports College A and #8 Hayakoba Racing, both with two All-Japan drivers, completed 135 laps, while #14 TOTSUKA & @SILK received the excellent lap count award with 134 laps.

The MVP was awarded to the team composed of children, adults, women, and people of all ages, who participated in the public practice and enjoyed "K-TAI" without any penalties [#30 Super ChipsEnjoy].

The women's karting club that energized "K-TAI" over the two days, #773 Arriving! JKB Red, marked 132 laps!
They showed a strong performance by becoming the highest-ranked team with female drivers and winning the Ladies Award.

At the end of the finale ceremony, a non-alcoholic champagne was distributed to each team, and a champagne fight was held all at once, bringing the 11th "K-TAI" to a close with smiles.
