7-Hour Endurance Race Report

#9 Fukuda Solar.NS.WM.REV.EK, which showed a steady performance, wins the overall championship!

2013 "JOY TAI" July 7 (Sun) 7-Hour Endurance Race Report It was a hot and humid day from the morning on the final day of "JOY TAI". After refueling early in the morning, the machines were transported to the grid and stored, waiting for the moment to start. During the opening ceremony, the general manager of Twin Ring Motegi, Takahiko Hodaka, greeted everyone from 15 meters above in a cherry picker. After the Twin Ring Motegi Angel declared the opening, the team introductions began.

As scheduled, at 9:55, we slowly entered the rolling lap, completing one lap of the road course in a beautiful formation. Once the safety car left, the 13th "JOY TAI" finally started. The #57 Towa Intec Racing DC5, which started from pole position, cleared the first corner while maintaining the lead and continued to lead the race. Returning to the home straight after pulling away from the second place and below during the opening lap, the gap continued to widen. In second place was the #9 Fukuda Solar.NS.WM.REV.EK, which started from the fourth grid, followed by the #67 YAMATO CIVIC, #73 BS DENSO FUKUDA DC2, #45 Tohoku Seiko EK9 with RAID, #126 Tohoku Seiko elf Izumu MSEK9, and #18 Asano Automobile Prelude.

After that, #57 Towa Intec Racing DC5 was leading the race, but it didn't last long as it pitted and dropped positions. At the 2-hour mark, #9 Fukuda Solar.NS.WM.REV.EK was in the lead, followed by #32 NUTEC☆ATS☆Smile EG6 on the same lap, but by the 4-hour mark, the 1.5 Challenge Cup's #36 Endless Advan Trust Vitz took the lead, showing that fuel-efficient machines were indeed at the front.

With 1 hour remaining, [#9 Fukuda Solar.NS.WM.REV.EK] was leading with a 3-lap gap in 2nd place, but immediately after, they made their 5th pit stop for refueling. [#59 KOG Wako's Dunlop City] and [#36 Endless Advant Trust Vitz] were closing in, and these three teams were on the same lap. However, at this point, [#59 KOG Wako's Dunlop City] had only completed 3 pit stops, and to fulfill the pit stop requirements under the "JOY TAI" rules, they had to make 2 more pit stops, causing them to drop in position. "We were progressing according to our strategy and did our best. I really wanted to do the pit work during a safety car period, but..." said Asakura from [#59 KOG Wako's Dunlop City].

#9 Fukuda Solar.NS.WM.REV.EK took the lead again, while #36 Endless Advant Trust Vitz followed in second place. Fukuda, the driver of #9 Fukuda Solar.NS.WM.REV.EK, drove while keeping an eye on the gap to the second place. He received the checkered flag in first place, achieving overall victory.
"The fuel efficiency was sufficient. In the end, I was driving while watching the time difference with the car behind me. There is no specific reason for my victory. I just happened to win. When building a car, there are good times and bad times. I think this was a good time. It was a very easy car to drive," said Fukuda.

2nd place was the #36 Endless Advant Trust Vitz with a time difference of 26.950 seconds, winning the 1.5 Challenge Cup class. 3rd place was the #59 KOG Wako's Dunlop City with a time difference of 52.779 seconds, winning Class 3. The top 3 recorded 154 laps.
