Gold Orchid
Shooting location: Kabutomushi Hill
From late April to May, the forest welcomes fresh greenery and the orchids bloom in bright golden colors. They can grow to about 70 cm in height due to the symbiotic relationship with trees such as Konara and Kunugi, but in recent years, their numbers have decreased nationwide due to environmental changes caused by the neglect and development of satoyama. -

Hoso-mi Otsunen Tonbo
Shooting location: Hachyo Dragonfly Rice Terraces
It is slender like a damselfly and survives the winter as an adult, hence its name. During winter, it appears brown, resembling a dead branch, as it quietly protects itself while waiting for spring. As winter comes to an end, it can sometimes be seen flying in the forest on sunny days. With the arrival of warm spring, it matures and transforms into a vibrant and magnificent blue color. -

Owl
Shooting location: Hinoki's terraced slope
Active at night, they prey on small mammals such as mice and moles, as well as frogs and beetles. Spring is the season for owl parenting. In the large nest boxes in the forest, one to two chicks fledge each year. While walking and looking up at the nest boxes, you might see owl chicks peeking out.
