How to Enjoy Mobility Resort Motegi

Experience the activity "Living Creature Doctor and Gasa Gasa Introduction" at Mobility Resort Motegi!

At Mobility Resort Motegi, an activity called "Living Things Doctor and Gasa Gasa Introduction" was held during the Golden Week period.
This time, we will introduce the details of the activity that took place.

What kind of activity is the "Gasa Gasa Introduction with the Creature Doctor"?

Mobility Resort Motegi has a forest called "Hello Woods," which is a place where you can fully experience nature, a little away from the city center.
In the midst of such Hello Woods, there is a rice field known as "Hacchou Dragonfly's Terraced Rice Field." It is home to various creatures that are rarely seen in the city, and during spring, many tadpoles swim around, along with the larvae of the red dragonfly called Akiaakane, Tokyo daruma frogs, and tree frogs.
"Insect Expert and Gasa Gasa Introduction" is an activity where you can scoop up and carefully observe the many creatures living in this rice field using a net.

A place where you can fully experience nature

By observing and directly touching creatures that you are not usually familiar with, you can experience various sensations using your five senses, more than just researching on the internet.
Additionally, in this activity, a creature expert who is knowledgeable about various organisms will accompany you. They will explain not only the ecology of the creatures but also details such as how they were born, why they inhabit this forest, and where they are most commonly found.

Experience the "Living Things Doctor and Gasa Gasa Introduction"!

So, I experienced what the "Creature Doctor and Gasa Gasa Introduction" program is actually like!
On the day of the event, we gathered at the Hello Woods rice terrace at the scheduled start time! Once we arrived at the rice field, we immediately took our nets and started searching for creatures in the rice field with the Creature Doctor. On that day, frogs were croaking from various places, and the participating children were engrossed in catching frogs!
Moreover, opportunities to see rice fields are quite rare in urban areas, and the children were having a great time dipping their nets into the rice field and discovering various creatures.
The rice field was full of tadpoles. Additionally, dragonfly larvae and water beetles also inhabit the rice field. The doctor teaches us various things about these creatures. For example, regarding tadpoles, it turns out that the types of tadpoles vary depending on the season, and in this Hello Woods rice terrace, there are five types of spawning that occur in order.
In this way, you can immediately ask the doctor any questions you have about the ecology of the creatures, their types, and how they live, leading to a lot of learning.
Frogs can be quite difficult to catch, but the doctor taught us some tips and even caught one to show us.

Let's observe the creatures

Let's observe frogs with the creature expert! Questions like, "What do their hands and feet look like?" "Where are their eyes?" "What about their mouths?" were asked, and the participating children used all their senses to observe the creatures.

Enjoy natural experiences with peace of mind and safety

In the end, we return the creatures to the rice fields. The frogs we caught swim away smoothly when released back into their original rice field. The activity lasts for just one hour, and since it starts and ends on-site, it's great that you can freely decide your movements before and after!
Even for those who are really resistant to insects, children can see, touch, and feel nature, absorbing the goodness of the natural world. There are many things that you can only understand by actually touching. Hello Woods is a forest that is carefully managed by human hands, so you can enjoy a natural experience safely and securely.

Summary

This time, we delivered a report on the Experience program "Gasa Gasa Introduction with the Creature Doctor."
Since there are few opportunities to interact with nature and creatures like this, I felt it was a valuable experience.
At Mobility Resort Motegi, many activity programs for natural experiences will be available in the future.
